     There is a wide range of quality of products in the Fiber Optic industry. For the patch cable, you should make sure that the quality is guaranteed because these products are mainly used to produce patch cord or pigtail. If their parameters don’t meet the standard, it will cost a huge breakdown of network. Here are some tips for Sun Telecom’s patch cable in order to give you an idea of how to choose when purchasing.

     
    For patch cable, there are a lot of factors that can affect prices:

    1. Patch cable contains 3 parts shown as follow: tight buffer fiber, Aramid yarn and outer jacket.

    Patch cable is usually used to produce patch cord, so its outer jacket is usually made by PVC. PVC is cheaper than LSZH, but its flame retardancy is lower and PVC cannot resist ultraviolet rays. LSZH will not produce toxic gases, so it is widely used in strict environment requirements.
     
    2. Sun Telecom uses Corning fiber or YOFC fiber because of low concentricity and tolerance because lower concentricity permits better data transmission. With advanced technique, fiber tolerance can be limited at ideal level. Concentricity is an important parameter. “0” is the ideal status and the typical value of our products is “1.0um”. 
     
    3. Sun Telecom also uses high precision and entirely new PVC and LSZH as tight buffer jacket and outer jacket to provide good mechanical performance. Some of manufacturers may use recycled material which can greatly affect their performances.
     
    4. Sun Telecom’s Aramid yarns are smooth and clear which provide good flexibility and organization. These characteristics can guarantee good tensile strength. Some Aramid yarns in the market may be too rough to meet the mechanical requirements. And under a same quantity, flexible yarns perform much better than rough yarn. Also, we ensure the quantity of Aramid yarns for different kinds of cable (ex: 40 pairs for φ3.0, 30 pairs for φ2.0, etc.). Some of manufacturers may cut down on materials.
     
    5. Moreover, the assembly of parts, connector polishing and so on can also affect the performance of patch cord. Sun Telecom provides a professional patch cord production line with high quality control. Before delivery, our products are inspected with a series of test equipments such as Interferometer, I&R loss tester, Ferrule inspector (as the following pictures) and so on.
